Sadly these two photos represent the only shots taken of the many shows I was able to catch at the funkay, funkay Whiskey A Go Go on the Hollywood Sunset Strip during the 60's and 70's.
However the show was one of the finest I witnessed there with this being Cream's first visit to Los Angeles promoting their Fresh Cream LP. The crowd was full of other celeb musicians and movie stars all there to catch the latest buzz about town. Marshall power to the people y'all!!

FYI, there were a total of twenty-four pictures taken this night that Cream played at the Whiskey. I'm the photographer that took them. Had to secure permission from Ben Palmer who was their road manager for this tour.
ReplyDeleteThere were a sets of five that were sold through Lewin's Record paradise on Hollywood Blvd. Quality of these are bad as they were printed through a printer that the Mr.and Mrs. used for a lot of the photos they sold. Interesting that some of thee still exist. I still own the original negatives.
Hi Bob, Thank you for adding some context about those photos you shot at the Whiskey. I was thee for two of the three nights. I used to visit Lew Lewin's Record Paradise to purchase imports back then also! Cheers
